What is staff scheduling?
Staff scheduling matches employees and shifts to the work that needs to be done. You consider availability, roles, expected demand and the hours required. A published schedule makes it clear who works when.
From availability to a workable schedule
Start with employees’ availability and leave requests. Then distribute shifts across your team and check staffing by department or location. In the Scope app, employees can view schedules, submit availability and swap shifts. The manager retains control of review and approval.
Schedule with hours and labour costs in view
A filled shift does not yet tell you whether staffing matches expected revenue. Compare scheduled hours and labour costs with your forecast, then review hours actually worked. Use the outcome of one week to prepare the next. The data and configuration required are agreed during implementation.
Schedule checks for working time rules and collective agreements
Alerts about possible exceptions help you check your schedule. Which rules are checked depends on the configured collective agreement and setup. The planner remains responsible for reviewing the schedule. Software does not guarantee compliance.

Frequently asked questions about staff scheduling
Can I schedule across multiple locations?
Yes. Scope Workforce Planner supports scheduling for one or multiple sites. Discuss how departments, roles and access should be configured for your organisation.
Can employees submit their availability?
Yes. Employees can submit availability, request leave and view schedules in the Scope app. Shift swaps require manager approval.
What is the difference between scheduling and time tracking?
Staff scheduling records who will work when. Time tracking records the hours actually worked. Scope brings both together so you can assess differences.
